Pengembangan Desain Ui/Ux Berbasis Mobile Untuk Optimalisasi Education Management Information System

Abstract
This research focuses on the development and redesign of the user interface and user experience (UI/UX) of a mobile-based Education Management Information System (EMIS) to enhance system usability for users at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Gorontalo Province. The existing EMIS design is dominated by a non-responsive web display on mobile devices, resulting in difficulties with navigation, data input, and workflow inefficiency, with an initial System Usability Scale (SUS) evaluation score of only 65.76 (an "OK" category that requires improvement). The proposed solution was developed using the Design Thinking methodology through the phases of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. The research contributes by providing user-centered EMIS design recommendations. Data were collected through interviews, observation, an initial SUS questionnaire (26 respondents), and final validation using Maze Design (remote usability testing). The validation test results on the high-fidelity prototype showed a significant increase in usability, measured by the Maze Usability Score (MAUS). The new MAUS scores reached 86 for Operators, 75 for Teachers, and 89 for School Principals. All these scores fall into the medium to high categories, with an adjective rating of "Excellent," far exceeding the initial score. These findings indicate that the application of Design Thinking is effective in producing an EMIS UI/UX design that is more usable, efficient, and mobile-friendly.

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengembangan dan perancangan ulang antarmuka dan pengalaman pengguna (UI/UX) Education Management Information System (EMIS) berbasis mobile untuk meningkatkan kegunaan sistem bagi pengguna di Kantor Wilayah Kementerian Agama Provinsi Gorontalo. Desain EMIS eksisting didominasi oleh tampilan web yang tidak responsif pada perangkat mobile, menyebabkan kesulitan navigasi, penginputan data, dan inefisiensi alur kerja, dengan skor evaluasi awal System Usability Scale (SUS) hanya 65,76 (kategori "OK" namun perlu perbaikan). Solusi yang diusulkan dikembangkan menggunakan metode Design Thinking melalui tahapan Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, dan Test. Penelitian berkontribusi pada penyediaan rekomendasi desain EMIS yang berpusat pada pengguna. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, kuesioner SUS awal (26 responden), dan validasi akhir menggunakan Maze Design (remote usability testing). Hasil pengujian validasi pada prototipe high-fidelity menunjukkan peningkatan usability yang signifikan, diukur dengan Maze Usability Score (MAUS). Skor MAUS yang baru mencapai 86 untuk Operator, 75 untuk Guru, dan 89 untuk Kepala Madrasah. Semua skor ini berada dalam kategori menengah hingga tinggi, dengan adjective rating "Excellent", jauh melampaui skor awal. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa penerapan Design Thinking efektif dalam menghasilkan desain UI/UX EMIS yang lebih usable, efisien, dan mobile-friendly.
