Abstract


One of the characteristics of the local wisdom of the coastal communities in Tojo Una Una is the wisdom in the utilization of natural resources. Local people really appreciate the surrounding natural environment and use it wisely. They have strict customary rules in terms of harvesting marine products and reforestation. In addition, the community is also used to living simply and is able to make traditional tools to facilitate their work in utilizing natural resources. In addition, the characteristics of the local wisdom of the coastal communities in Tojo Una Una can also be seen from the attitude of living in harmony with each other and with the surrounding environment. The people in this area highly uphold solidarity and mutual cooperation as a legacy from their ancestors. They also have social traditions such as traditional events, abstinence, and religious ceremonies which have been maintained for years. The local wisdom of the coastal communities in Tojo Una Una is also seen in the selection of building materials used in the construction of traditional houses. The community utilizes available natural materials such as wood, rattan and bamboo which make their traditional houses environmentally friendly and look beautiful. Overall, the characteristics of the local wisdom of the coastal communities in Tojo Una Una are very unique and have their own uniqueness. People in this area maintain the heritage of their ancestors and protect the natural environment wisely. All of this local wisdom really deserves to be guarded and preserved so that it does not become extinct due to the increasingly mushrooming currents of modernization.
