Pola Konsumsi Snack dan Minuman Kemasan pada Mahasiswa Kesehatan dan Non-Kesehatan: Studi Kasus UIN Sumatera Utara

Abstract


The undergraduate students are at high risk of having unhealthy diet, consumption of snacks and packaged drinks is a big phenomenon in this age group. This study aims to compare the level of snack and packaged drink consumption in health and non-health students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra Islamic. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method collected through an online questionnaire using Google Form. A total of 122 respondents with details of 61 students from the health study program and 61 students from the non-health study program. The data collection technique used the accidental sampling technique with respondents in this study being 122 students with a ratio of health and non-health respondents of 1: 1. The results showed that the majority of health students (58.33%) consumed snacks 1-3 times a week, followed by 23.33% of respondents who consumed 3-6 times, 10% consumed snacks up to more than 6 times a week, and 8.33% stated that they never consumed snacks. Meanwhile, in non-health students, 49.18% of respondents consumed snacks 1-3 times a week, 32.79% consumed snacks 3-6 times, 13.11% of respondents consumed snacks more than 6 times a week, and only 4.92% never consumed snacks. The health student group consumed 1-3 bottles of packaged drinks per week. Some others (25%) consumed 4-6 bottles, while 16.67% stated that they never did. As many as 46.7% of respondents consumed 1-3 bottles per week, while 16.7% reported consuming 4-6 bottles. As many as 13.3% stated that they never consumed (13.3%) consumed more than 6 bottles. The conclusion of this study is that non-health students have a higher level of snack and packaged drink consumption than health students, so it is necessary to provide education on healthy diet for non-health students.
