Gerakan Sehat Bebas Penyakit Kolesterol: Pemanfaatan Rimpang Kunyit dalam Menu Harian Masyarakat Desa Bua Kecamatan Batudaa Kabupaten Gorontalo

Abstract


Kolesterol tinggi merupakan salah satu faktor risiko utama penyakit kardiovaskular, yang menjadi penyebab kematian tertinggi di Indonesia. Upaya pencegahan kolesterol perlu dilakukan secara promotif dan preventif, salah satunya melalui pemanfaatan pangan fungsional seperti rimpang kunyit (Curcuma longa). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat Desa Bua, Kecamatan Batudaa, Kabupaten Gorontalo, mengenai pencegahan penyakit kolesterol melalui integrasi kunyit dalam menu harian. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif melalui ceramah, edukasi, dan diskusi interaktif. Materi yang diberikan mencakup definisi kolesterol, faktor risiko, serta manfaat kunyit bagi kesehatan. Demonstrasi pembuatan minuman herbal kunyit dilakukan untuk memberikan pengalaman praktis kepada peserta. Edukasi dilengkapi dengan leaflet yang memuat panduan konsumsi kunyit dan pola makan sehat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat yang tercermin dari partisipasi aktif selama diskusi dan antusiasme mencoba olahan kunyit. Peserta memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang bahaya kolesterol dan cara pencegahannya secara alami. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah pemanfaatan kunyit dapat menjadi intervensi sederhana, murah, dan berkelanjutan dalam mencegah penyakit kolesterol. Kegiatan ini juga memperkuat kolaborasi antara perguruan tinggi, pemerintah desa, dan masyarakat dalam mendukung Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat (Germas)
