Pendampingan dan Edukasi Pengukuran Kenyamanan Termal sebagai Upaya Pelestarian Rumah Adat Dulohupa
Abstract
This community service program aimed to strengthen students' practical skills in measuring the thermal comfort performance of Rumah Adat Dulohupa, a vernacular timber house in Kota Gorontalo, Indonesia, that is widely regarded as a heritage representation of tropical vernacular design. The program combined short technical training with direct field mentoring for students of the D4 Study Program of Building Architecture, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Participants were guided through building dimension surveys, determination of representative measurement points, operation of portable thermal comfort instruments, and administration of a Thermal Sensation Vote questionnaire using the ASHRAE seven-point scale, following the procedures of SNI 03-6572-2001 and ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 55. Through hands-on practice, students gained direct experience in scientific field data collection while contributing preliminary data to an ongoing study on the thermal performance of Rumah Adat Dulohupa. The dimensional survey was also translated into elevation drawings and a three-dimensional digital model, providing a visual record of the building geometry for subsequent thermal analysis and heritage documentation. The program improved participants' understanding of the climatic responsiveness of vernacular architecture and reinforced the importance of empirical documentation for heritage building conservation. Continuing similar training at other vernacular heritage sites in Gorontalo is recommended.
