General Requirements

  1. Each author must confirm their authorship and contribution. We encourage international collaboration and the participation of female authors. Authorship misconduct (ghost, guest, or gift authorship) will result in sanctions, including a ban for the author(s).
  2. The journal is highly open to articles on community strengthening within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Examples include legal empowerment, access to justice, gender equality, poverty reduction, decent work, consumer protection, and the protection of vulnerable groups. Authors are encouraged to state which SDG(s) their activity supports and to explain the link between the activity and the SDG target(s) in the Introduction. Articles on other topics within the journal’s scope remain welcome.
  3. We cannot accept “massive submissions” from certain institutions or authors. Authors and co-authors are advised to submit with a gap of at least one year. If the same name (as main author or co-author) submits too often, the manuscript will most likely be rejected to prevent misconduct.
  4. Each author must have an ORCID iD. Authors who do not have one should create an account at orcid.org. The ORCID link must be entered during submission.
  5. Manuscripts must report community service, empowerment, or community-based research in law and humanities, with a focus on contemporary issues in Indonesia in the context of national law and a socio-humanities approach. A manuscript must describe the partner community, the problem addressed, and the activity or method used. It must also show the impact and the contribution of the work.
  6. The manuscript must be no less than 4,000 words, excluding the abstract and references.
  7. Manuscripts must be written in English or Indonesian. American style may be used, but it must be consistent. Manuscripts must be carefully proofread, especially by authors from non-English-speaking countries. Professional proofreading is recommended, and authors may upload proof of it as a supplementary file.
  8. The manuscript must not have been published before or be under consideration by another journal. If an earlier version was presented elsewhere (for example, at a conference), authors must explain this in the Comments to the Editor. Authors are advised to check similarity with Turnitin before submission. Manuscripts with high similarity will be rejected. If the work was sponsored, authors must state the funding and confirm that the work is released for open publication.
  9. For activities involving people, authors must obtain informed consent, protect privacy, and have permission from partner institutions to use names, photos, or data. Authors must also obtain ethical clearance if required by their institution.
  10. The editors may edit the language and format of accepted manuscripts without changing their content.
  11. Title. The title must be concise and descriptive, with a maximum of 15 words.
  12. Abstract. The abstract is written in one paragraph in English, 150–250 words. It states the problem, objective, method, results, and conclusion (and recommendations, if any).
  13. Keywords. Use 3–5 keywords, arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons. They must be specific to the topic, not too general, and not a snippet of the title.
  14. Structure. The manuscript follows this order:
  • Title; Abstract; Keywords;
  • Introduction;
  • Methods;  The Methods section describes the approach and how the activity was carried out.
  • Result and Discussion;
  • Conclusion;
  • Declaration of Conflicting Interest and Funding Information (optional);
  • Acknowledgement (optional);
  • References; The journal uses the Chicago Manual of Style (footnotes) with an alphabetical reference list. Authors should use a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote. Cite only sources you have read, and make sure every cited source appears in the reference list. References should mainly be recent scholarly sources, with at least 25 items, mostly journal articles from the last 10 years.

Manuscript Type

DAS SEIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Hukum dan Humaniora accepts original manuscripts in the following three types. Authors should choose the type that best matches the main purpose of their manuscript and state it when submitting.

1. Community Service Article

 This type reports a community service or empowerment activity that has been carried out, and analyzes its results and impact in a scientific way. It is not a simple activity report. It must include discussion that links the findings to relevant theories or concepts.

It focuses on the activity and its results for the community. It describes a clear problem faced by the partner community and the solution offered. It supports the results with evidence, such as the number of participants, improved understanding (pre-test and post-test), or changes in behavior.

2. Community-Based Research Article

This type presents applied research conducted together with partner communities, not only for them. The community takes part in defining the problem, collecting data, or making decisions.

It focuses on the research process and finding, uses approaches such as action research, participatory action research, or model development, and it has a clear research question, a sound method, and a clear data analysis.

3. Case Study or Model Implementation

This type shows how a model, module, or approach is applied in a specific community, and evaluates how effective it is and what lessons can be learned.

It focuses on the model or approach and its evaluation. The context is specific, such as one village, one group, or one institution. It includes a clear evaluation of what worked, what the obstacles were, and whether the model can be used elsewhere.
