Pembelajaran Seni Rupa di Museum Purbakala Gorontalo

Abstract


The “Popa-Eyato” Archaeological Museum of Gorontalo has a wide collection of cultural objects that have the potential to be used as learning resources in visual arts learning for students. However, this potential is not fully utilized because the students do not yet have the basic knowledge and skills of visual arts. This service activity aims to teach visual arts in museums by equipping students with basic visual arts knowledge and skills to be able to paint museum collections. To achieve this goal, a direct practice-based demonstration method was used through the following stages: provision of art knowledge, exploration of ideas as objects of painting, preparation of tools and materials, demonstration of basic painting techniques, direct practice of painting, and evaluation. The result is that students who are participants in the study have basic knowledge of visual arts being taught and are able to create works of art (paintings) with objects from museum collections. It was concluded that learning visual arts in museums was effective in transferring knowledge and skills of visual arts, by utilizing cultural objects from museum collections as learning resources.
