IDENTIFIKASI KARAKTERISTIK EKOSISTEM MANGROVE SEBAGAI UPAYA PENANGGULANGAN BENCANA PADA KAWASAN PESISIR

Abstract

Almost all coastal areas in Indonesia are classified as areas with potential natural disasters. The types of disasters that are often faced by those living on small islands and adjacent to the beach and sea are tidal waves/abrasion and tsunami waves. To overcome these problems, as well as to protect coastal areas from greater environmental damage, mangrove planting as a protective coastal area is needed. The benefits of mangrove forest rehabilitation are certain to be able to restore forest sustainability ecologically and be able to improve the standard of living of the community economically, this can be seen from the level of understanding of the community reaching 100% understanding that the existence of mangrove forest rehabilitation programs can provide benefits for their lives. This study aims to identify the characteristics of mangrove ecosystems in disaster management efforts in coastal areas and increase awareness and understanding of the community to maintain the balance of mangrove ecosystems.
