Abstract

Emergency trolleys are essential facilities in emergency healthcare services and must always be maintained in a complete and ready-to-use condition to support patient safety. This study aimed to describe the management of emergency trolleys in the Emergency Department of Ibnu Sina Hospital Makassar. This study employed a quantitative observational method with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using an observation checklist based on the hospital's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for emergency trolley management, with a total sampling technique involving all medications and medical devices available in the emergency trolley. The results showed that the physical condition and completeness of the emergency trolley were generally good, complete, and ready for emergency use. Management activities, including storage, monitoring, documentation, and supervision, were implemented according to established procedures, although several issues related to coordination and reporting of emergency medication use were still identified. It was concluded that the management of emergency trolleys in the Emergency Department of Ibnu Sina Hospital Makassar was in accordance with the SOP and categorized as good; however, continuous monitoring and periodic evaluation are still required to maintain emergency service readiness
