EDUKASI MITIGASI BENCANA KEPADA ANAK-ANAK TPQ AT-THARIQ KABUPATEN BONE BOLANGO

Abstract


Disaster mitigation is a strategic step in reducing the risks and destructive impacts posed by natural disasters. In general, when natural disasters occur, children are the most vulnerable group to become victims compared to the adult group. Most PkM still focuses on a formal school environment such as elementary or junior high school. This service activity aims to provide disaster mitigation education to the children of TPQ At-Thariq in Bone Bolango Regency, considering that the early age group is among the most vulnerable categories when a disaster occurs. The method used is a participatory educational approach with three main stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation and monitoring. In the implementation stage, the team applied interactive learning methods through visual media and simple simulations so that the material was easier for children to understand. The results showed that children were able to recognize the types of disasters, understand mitigation steps before, during, and after disasters occurred, and were able to practice simple evacuation actions such as earthquake simulations. These findings confirm that educational approaches combined with visual media are effective in improving children's awareness and disaster preparedness skills. Thus, this activity has real implications for community-based disaster risk reduction efforts, especially for the early age group, and can be replicated in other vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and the elderly.
