Abstract

Optimal nutritional intake during the breastfeeding period is essential for maintaining maternal health and supporting optimal breastfeeding practices. Limited maternal knowledge regarding nutritional requirements may affect the implementation of a healthy diet. This community service activity aimed to improve breastfeeding mothers’ knowledge through education on balanced nutrition and healthy dietary practices in Polanas Baru Village. The activity was conducted through an educational approach using interactive lectures and discussions. Participants completed a pretest before the educational session, followed by a posttest to assess changes in knowledge. A total of 13 breastfeeding mothers participated in the activity. The results showed that the mean knowledge score increased from 64.00 before the intervention to 83.38 after the educational session. This improvement indicates that education on balanced nutrition and healthy dietary practices can enhance mothers’ understanding of nutritional requirements during breastfeeding. Such educational activities are expected to encourage healthier dietary practices and support maternal health and optimal infant growth and development.
