Kajian Geologi dan Stratigrafi Daerah Kwandang, Kabupaten Gorontalo Utara
Abstract
The availability of geological data remains a concern for the Kwandang area, where such information is needed to support land-use decisions and disaster risk reduction. Administratively, the area falls within North Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province, and occupies part of Sulawesi Island’s northern peninsula, within the Southern Mountain Zone. This study describes the geomorphology, stratigraphy, and geological structures of the area using surface geological mapping, macroscopic description of outcrops and hand specimens, and spatial analysis of DEMNAS data in ArcGIS 10.8. Four landform units were identified, dominated by denudational hills and alluvial plains, with elevations of 0 to 900 m. The stratigraphic sequence from oldest to youngest comprises diorite, andesite, agglomerate, tuff, and alluvial deposits. Two northwest–southeast trending fault zones cut the central to southern parts of the area. These results provide a geological baseline for Kwandang and a foundation for further hazard and spatial studies.
