Biomechanical Analysis of the Effectiveness of Front Kicks in Pencak Silat Sports

Abstract

This research aims to find out the results of a study on biomechanical analysis of the front kick technique in pencak silat. Because when performing the front kick technique there are usually obstacles or errors if the horse's stance is not good and the body is not balanced, this will result in a lack of accuracy, power and speed of the kick. Literature search in the form of documents/data originating from Google Scholar, Taylor & Francis and other databases, then identified using the narrative review method. The front kick in Pencak Silat is a vital technique in the match. The criteria for assessing this kick emphasize the target areas of the body, except for the neck and genitals. The study of biomechanics becomes important in this context, allowing a deeper understanding of the interaction of body strength and movement technique. Optimal use of body strength, including body weight management and force distribution, strengthens the kick. Biomechanical analysis allows identification of body parts that require improvement in technique and performance. Development of movement effectiveness is supported by structured sports training. Apart from the beauty of movement, Pencak Silat emphasizes effectiveness in combat. A proper strength training program allows the development of the muscles necessary for a stronger, more stable kick. Balance and flexibility training is also a major focus, helping athletes improve stability and adapt to various movement positions. The combination of understanding biomechanics and targeted sports training is the main key in increasing the effectiveness of Pencak Silat athletes' movements.
