Journal History

Jurnal Entropi (JE) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The journal was first published in 2006 in printed format with p-ISSN 1907-1965 and was initially published twice a year, in February and August. In its early years, Jurnal Entropi served as a multidisciplinary scientific journal with the focus of Innovations in Science Research, Education, and Learning. This broad focus provided a forum for researchers, educators, lecturers, and practitioners to disseminate scientific research and innovations across various fields of science, including chemistry, physics, biology, and other related scientific disciplines. Along with the development of the journal, its focus and scope have been progressively refined to emphasize chemistry and chemistry education.

The following are the historical milestones of Jurnal Entropi:

  1. First publication: Volume 1 Issue 1 was published in February 2006 in printed format with p-ISSN 1907-1965. The journal was initially published twice a year, in February and August, and focused on Innovations in Science Research, Education, and Learning.
  2. Initial multidisciplinary focus: During its early publication period, Jurnal Entropi accommodated scientific research, education, and learning innovations across various fields of science. Its broad scope allowed contributions from disciplines such as chemistry, physics, biology, and other related fields of science.
  3. Editorial office: The editorial office of Jurnal Entropi was initially located at Jl. Jenderal Sudirman No. 6, Gorontalo 96128, Gorontalo, Indonesia.
  4. Editorial office relocation: Starting in 2021, the editorial office of Jurnal Entropi was relocated to Jl. Prof. Dr. Ing. B.J. Habibie, Moutong, Tilongkabila, Bone Bolango 96554, Gorontalo, Indonesia.
  5. New journal template: Starting in September 2023, Jurnal Entropi adopted a new manuscript template.
  6. APA citation style update: Starting in March 2024, Jurnal Entropi adopted the 7th edition of the APA (American Psychological Association) citation style.
  7. Publication schedule and publisher: Starting in 2025, the publication schedule of Jurnal Entropi was changed from February and August to March and September. The publisher is the Department of Chemistry, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo.
  8. Refinement of focus and scope: Following its development as a multidisciplinary science journal, Jurnal Entropi has refined its focus toward chemistry and chemistry education. The current scope includes Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computational Chemistry, and Chemistry Education, including laboratory-based chemistry education.
