Artikel Review: Aktivitas Daun Benalu (Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq) Sebagai Antioksidan dengan metode DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl)

Abstract


Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq. or benalu leaf is a variety of hemiparasitic plants used in traditional medicine. The active compounds of benalu leaves include flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, and saponins. Flavonoids are known to have high antioxidant content. Antioxidants play an active role in warding off free radicals that cause degenerative diseases. The preparation of this review article aims to provide a general identification of the antioxidant activity of benalu leaves with an in vitro model, namely DPPH. The preparation of this review article, obtained by electronic based Google method on the site (Google Scholar, Pubmed, NCBI). After conducting research using the DPPH technique in the in vitro testing model, the IC50 value of benalu leaves was <200 µg/mL. Benalu leaf has a high antioxidant capacity with secondary metabolite compounds contained in it very high, so it can treat various chronic diseases.
