PENGUATAN SOFT SKILL UNTUK MENINGKATKAN ADAPTABILITAS PRAKERIN SISWA SMK TEKNIK KENDARAAN RINGAN SMK N 3 MAKASSAR

Abstract


The low adaptability of vocational high school students in undertaking Industrial Work Practice (Praktik Kerja Industri—Prakerin) remains a significant challenge, particularly in soft skills such as communication, teamwork, discipline, and professional ethics. This community engagement program aimed to improve students' work readiness, particularly their adaptability, through direct industry-led socialization and workplace culture simulations. The program employed an experiential learning approach combined with interactive lectures, group discussions, and authentic workplace simulations involving industry practitioners from PT. Megaputra Putra Sejahtera (Suzuki Makassar). The program involved 70 students from the Light Vehicle Engineering program at SMK Negeri 3 Makassar, supported by a community engagement team from Universitas Negeri Makassar and school personnel. Program effectiveness was evaluated using a pre-test and post-test design. The results showed that the average soft skills score increased from 3.25 ± 0.55 to 4.35 ± 0.43, representing a 33.85% improvement. Students' adaptability increased from 3.17 ± 0.61 to 4.32 ± 0.43 (36.28%), while self-confidence improved from 2.94 ± 0.68 to 4.29 ± 0.44 (45.92%). These findings indicate that the program was effective in enhancing students' readiness to undertake Industrial Work Practice.
