The abundant availability of sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) trunk waste in Gorontalo presents an opportunity to create art-furniture products, yet this resource remains underutilized. Meanwhile, the Huntu Art Distrik (HArtDisk) artists' group—a creative community—has been unable to process these trunks due to technical constraints. This community service aims to transform sugar palm trunk waste into art-furniture products in collaboration with HArtDisk, serving as the target partner, through the downstream application of research findings. The implementation method is carried out in stages through: dissemination, technical training, the application of innovative artistic technology, and evaluation.. The outcomes include: 1) enhanced knowledge and skills among the partners (HArtDisk) in processing sugar palm trunk waste into art-furniture; 2) the availability of adequate production tools and materials; and 3) the successful production of six types of art-furniture featuring unique local motifs and economic value. The initiative has resulted in improved expertise among the partner artists in transforming this waste into art-furniture, thereby contributing to increased economic value and the efficient use of natural resources. |
