Author Guidelines

A. Manuscript Submission

Nikè: Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan is a national scientific journal that serves as a communication platform for researchers and practitioners in the field of fisheries and marine sciences. The journal accepts manuscripts in areas such as fisheries processing technology, fisheries biology, marine science, and related applied sciences. Manuscripts must be submitted online through http://ejurnal.ung.ac.id/index.php/nike. Submission implies that the manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere. All submissions must be made through our online submission system.

B. Reviewing of Manuscripts

Each submitted manuscript will undergo a double-blind peer review process. It will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. The final decision is based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations. If needed, a third reviewer may be involved.

C. Manuscript Format

Manuscripts should be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English using the provided Microsoft Word template. The manuscript must be formatted on Letter-sized paper with specific margins (Top/Bottom: 2.54 cm, Left/Right: 3 cm), using Arial Narrow font, and submitted in a two-column format, except for the title and abstract sections which must be in single column.

D. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts must include the following sections:

  • Title: Concise, clear, maximum 14 words. Italics for scientific names.
  • Author(s): Full name(s) without academic titles.
  • Affiliation: Institution, mailing address, postal code, country.
  • Email: Corresponding author's email address.
  • Abstract: In both Indonesian and English. Max 250 words, including aim, method, results, and conclusion. Written in a single paragraph.
  • Keywords: Max 5 words, alphabetically ordered, separated by semicolons (;), and not repeating title words.
  • Introduction: Covers research background, previous studies, research gaps, and study objectives.
  • Research Method: Descriptive explanation of approach, data, tools, and data analysis. Highlight analysis methods rather than data collection.
  • Results and Discussion: Present and interpret findings with appropriate illustrations (tables/figures). Compare findings with existing literature and address the research objectives.
  • Conclusion: Clearly state answers to research questions or objectives. Do not merely repeat results.
  • Acknowledgments: Optional. Express gratitude to individuals or institutions contributing to the research.
  • Author Contributions: Use contributor roles such as Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Writing – original draft, Supervision, etc.
  • Funding: Declare funding source, or state “This research received no external funding.”
  • Data Availability: State data availability status or provide link if available.
  • Conflict of Interest: Declare any potential conflict of interest or state “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

E. Figures and Tables

  • Tables and figures must be referenced in the text before they appear.
  • Figure titles are placed below the figure. Table titles are placed above the table.
  • Use Arabic numbering (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1).
  • Caption font: Arial Narrow 10 pt.
  • Avoid vertical lines in tables. Use horizontal lines only when necessary.

F. References

References must follow IEEE style. Use reference manager tools such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero. The list should consist of at least 80% primary sources (journals/proceedings) and a maximum of 20% secondary sources (books), published within the last 10 years. Authors are required to cite at least 5 articles previously published in this journal. Minimum number of references is 15–20. Include DOI for each reference whenever available.

The use of articles will be governed by the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC).

2. Author(s)' Warranties

The author warrants that the article is original, written by the stated author(s), has not been published before, contains no unlawful statements, does not infringe the rights of others, is subject to copyright that is vested exclusively in the author, and free of any third-party rights, and that any necessary written permissions to quote from other sources have been obtained by the author(s).

3. User Rights

NIKé Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan spirit is to disseminate articles published are as free as possible. Under the Creative Commons license, NIKé Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan permits users to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work. Users will also need to attribute authors and NIKé Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan to distributing works in the journal and other media of publications.

4. Rights of Authors

Authors retain all their rights to the published works, such as (but not limited to) the following rights;

  • Copyright and other proprietary rights relating to the article, such as patent rights,
  • The right to use the substance of the article in own future works, including lectures and books,
  • The right to reproduce the article for own purposes,
  • The right to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the article's published version (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal (NIKé Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan).

5. Co-Authorship

If the article was jointly prepared by more than one author, any author submitting the manuscript warrants that he/she has been authorized by all co-authors to be agreed on this copyright and license notice (agreement) on their behalf and agrees to inform his/her co-authors of the terms of this policy. NIKé Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan will not be held liable for anything that may arise due to the author(s) internal dispute. NIKé Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan will only communicate with the corresponding author.

6. Royalties

Being an open-accessed journal and disseminating articles for free under the Creative Commons license term mentioned, the author(s) are aware that Jambura Journal of Mathematics entitles the author(s) to no royalties or other fees.
