Efektivitas Kombinasi Ekstrak Kulit Jeruk Nipis (Citrus aurantifolia) Dan Perasan Daun Miana (Coleus scutellarioides) Terhapap Bakteri Penyebab Infeksi Pneumonia

Abstract


Pneumonia is an infection of the lung parenchyma which includes the alveoli and interstitial tissue, accompanied by inflammation. In Indonesia, pneumonia is on the list of the 10 biggest diseases every year in health facilities. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the combination of lime peel extract (Citrus aurantifolia) and miana leaf (Coleus scutellarioides) in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria as the cause of pneumonia. This research is a laboratory experimental research using the Scratch and Kirby Bauer method. Lime peel and miana leaf juice were combined with a concentration variation of 2 : 1; 1 : 1; and 1: 2. The results obtained were lime peel extract and miana leaf juice had inhibitory activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The effectiveness of the inhibition was indicated by the potential antibacterial inhibition of the combination of lime peel extract and miana leaf juice with the highest inhibition zone at a concentration of 1: 2 against Streptococcus pneumoniae of 9.05 mm, against Klebsiella pneumoniae of 8.65 mm, and against Staphylococcus aureus. of 6.78. The zone of inhibition is categorized as moderate (5-10 mm).
