Abstract

Socioeconomic problems demand the active role of university students as agents of change, one of which can be realized through social entrepreneurship. Although various entrepreneurship policies have been implemented in higher education institutions, student involvement remains relatively low, indicating the need for a more specific mapping of predictors of social entrepreneurial intention. This study aims to analyze the effects of gender, field of study, and entrepreneurial experience on the social entrepreneurial intention of students at private universities in Indonesia. A quantitative approach using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was employed. Data were collected using an eight-item social entrepreneurial intention scale adapted from IP (2017), while other variables were obtained through demographic data. A total of 256 respondents were selected using multistage sampling techniques, representing students from social-humanities and engineering fields. The results indicate that gender and field of study (p > 0.05) do not have a significant effect, whereas entrepreneurial experience has a significant effect (p < 0.05). Furthermore, an interaction effect was found among gender, field of study, and entrepreneurial experience, which collectively influences students social entrepreneurial intention.
