Author Guidelines

Jambura Journal of English Teaching and Literature (JJETL) publishes original research, reviews, and critical analyses in English language teaching and learning, language testing and assessment, ELT curriculum and materials, applied linguistics, literature, and translation studies. Manuscripts must be written in English and prepared using the JJETL template.

1. General Requirements

  • Originality: the manuscript has not been published before and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • Length: 5,000-8,000 words, including references (see Manuscript Types).
  • Format: Times New Roman, 12 pt, single-spaced, with the page margins set in the JJETL template.
  • Similarity: overall similarity must not exceed 20% (see Plagiarism Policy).
  • Submission: manuscripts are submitted online through this OJS and accepted throughout the year. 
  • Blind review: remove all author names and affiliations from the manuscript file uploaded for review. Enter author details in the submission metadata only.

2. Manuscript Structure

  • Title: concise and informative, maximum 14 words, in bold.
  • Authors: full names without academic titles, followed by affiliation, full address, country, and the corresponding author's email.
  • Abstract: one paragraph of 200–250 words stating the background, purpose, method, main findings, and conclusion. Do not include citations.
  • Keywords: 3–5 keywords in alphabetical order.
  • Introduction: the importance of the topic, a review of relevant previous studies, the research gap, and the purpose or research questions.
  • Method: research design, participants or data sources, instruments, procedures, and data analysis. Research involving human participants must state how informed consent was obtained.
  • Findings and Discussion: findings supported by data (tables, figures, or excerpts), interpreted in relation to the research questions and relevant literature, and their implications.
  • Conclusion: answers the research objectives stated in the Introduction. It is not a summary of the findings. Limitations and suggestions for further research may be included.
  • Acknowledgements (optional): institutions or funding agencies that supported the research.
  • Declarations: a Declaration of Competing Interest, an Author Contribution statement (for multi-author papers), and a statement on any use of generative AI tools. This requirement applies to manuscripts submitted or accepted from October 2026 onward.
  • References.

3. References and Citations

  • Use APA style (7th edition). Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list, and every reference must be cited in the text.
  • Include at least 25 references, at least 80% of which are journal articles published in the last 10 years.
  • Include the DOI wherever available, and avoid excessive self-citation.
  • Use a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
 

Copyright Notice

The author who publishes in Jambura Journal of English Teaching and Literature (JJETL) agrees to the following terms: The journal allows the authors to hold the copyright without restrictions and allow the authors to retain publishing rights without restrictions. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

 

Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Publication: 500000.00 (IDR)
Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 500,000 is payable only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication. It covers copyediting, layout, DOI registration, and digital archiving. Submission and peer review are free of charge, and there are no other fees.

Authors who are unable to pay the APC may request a full or partial waiver by writing to the editor at submission. Waiver requests are decided by the managing editor and play no part in editorial decisions; reviewers and handling editors are not informed of them.
