PENGARUH LEADER-MEMBER EXCHANGE (LMX), MOTIVASI EKSTRINSIK, DAN PENGEMBANGAN KARIR TERHADAP KEPUASAN KERJA PEGAWAI

Abstract


The primary focus of this study is to examine the contributions of leader-member exchange, extrinsic motivation, and career development to the job satisfaction of employees at the Yogyakarta City Fire and Rescue Service. This research employs a quantitative research design with probability sampling, where the sample size was determined using the Slovin formula. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 80 respondents and subsequently processed using SPSS version 26. The results indicate that, partially, extrinsic motivation and career development variables have a positive and significant influence on job satisfaction. This suggests that tangible rewards and professional future certainty are the main pillars shaping employees' positive attitudes toward their work in high-risk environments. Meanwhile, the leader-member exchange (LMX) variable has a positive but non-significant influence on job satisfaction. The findings of this study contribute to the understanding of the importance of leader-member exchange (LMX), extrinsic motivation, and career development in influencing job satisfaction. The implications of these results can serve as a foundation for various organizations and practitioners to enhance human resource management practices, particularly regarding leadership aspects, reward systems, and the professional future certainty of employees.
