EVALUASI EFEKTIVITAS VOKAL POIN TERHADAP PENINGKATAN PENGALAMAN SENSORIK DAN EMOSIONAL WISATAWAN DI MALALAYANG BEACH WALK MANADO
Abstract
ABSTRACT.
This research evaluates the effectiveness of the vocal point in enhancing the sensory and emotional experiences of tourists at Malalayang Beach Walk Manado, an urban beach area with potential yet suboptimal utilization of its built landscape. Employing a mixed-methods approach (sequential explanatory), this study combines quantitative data from 100 respondents via Likert-scale questionnaires with qualitative data from in-depth interviews and observations. Descriptive analysis results indicate that the vocal point (observation tower) is rated as effective in attracting tourist attention (mean 4.25), significantly contributing to sensory experiences (correlation 0.68) which are rated highly (mean 4.24), particularly in visual and auditory aspects, as well as emotional experiences (correlation 0.72) which fall into the very high category (mean 4.35) with dominant indicators of satisfaction and comfort. Regression analysis demonstrates that the vocal point contributes 52% to the overall tourist experience, underscoring the crucial role of architectural elements in shaping perceptions and eliciting positive emotional responses. These findings affirm the urgency of designing with strong vocal points to enhance the attractiveness of tourist destinations, and provide practical implications for managers to optimize these elements to create a satisfying holistic experience for visitors.
