About the Journal

Jambura Geo Education Journal (JGEJ) publishes research in geography education and human and social geography. It aims to advance geographical learning and understanding of relationships among people, places, and environments. Its scope includes spatial thinking and literacy; geography curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment; GIS and digital mapping in education; environmental, disaster, and sustainability education; and socio-spatial analyses of culture, inequality, mobility, and urban–rural change.

The journal publishes original empirical research, theoretical contributions, systematic and bibliometric reviews, and case studies. Its readership comprises geography researchers, teachers, teacher educators, and practitioners working in geospatial education and community development.

JGEJ’s distinctive focus connects geographical education with inquiry into how communities experience and respond to social and environmental change, particularly in developing countries and the Global South. Contributions must demonstrate an explicit geographical or spatial framework and advance geographical knowledge, educational practice, or understanding of community–environment relations.

Established in 2020, JGEJ accepted manuscripts in Indonesian and English through Volume 4 and has accepted English-language submissions only since Volume 5, Number 1 (2024). See the complete Focus and Scope.

Editorial and Peer Review Process

Editors screen submissions for scope, originality, methodological quality, research integrity, and conformity with the author guidelines. Manuscripts proceeding to external review receive double-blind assessment from at least three reviewers. The editor makes the final decision on the basis of the reports and the scientific merit of the manuscript.

JGEJ maintains published policies on research integrity, plagiarism screening, conflicts of interest, use of generative AI, peer review, open access, copyright, archiving, and manuscript withdrawal. All published articles are available to readers without a subscription.
